Good Sleep is a unique blend of lemon balm, chamomile, hops, oats and sleep poppy. Lemon balm is a well-known herb in the context of sleep that contributes to relaxation. Hops and sleepyhead help you fall asleep and maintain a restful sleep.

Why do we need sleep?
We need sleep to allow our body and brain to rest, recover and process impressions. While we sleep, we process emotions and experiences so that in the morning we are ready to take on the challenges of the next day. Sleep strengthens memory and clears the brain of harmful substances. This is because sleep clears the brain of ‘junk’ formed during the day and builds and strengthens neural connections. Sleep is a basic biological function that is present in all living beings and is controlled by factors such as heredity, light and environment. An adult human needs between 7 and 8 hours of undisturbed sleep per night typically.

Poor sleep can have many causes
The most common cause of sleep problems is stress. When you are stressed, your whole nervous system tunes in to wakefulness and you find it difficult to wind down and fall asleep. Sleep can become shallower due to stress and you may wake up early in the morning and have difficulty falling back asleep. Why we feel stress is individual but common causes can be the classic everyday puzzle with high demands at work, family life, everyday chores, relationships, etc. Unprocessed experiences from the past as well as negative thoughts and feelings can also be causes of stress. Other common causes are disturbing sounds in the environment such as traffic noise, a snoring partner or having young children. Alcohol, nicotine and caffeine can also negatively affect sleep.

Herbs for a good night’s sleep
Good Sleep contains 5 different well-known herbs in a unique combination.

Lemon balm – has been used for centuries for its calming effect and is also a popular spice in cooking. It is also widely used in aromatherapy for its fragrant essential oil content.

Hops – came to the Nordic countries with the monks in the 12th century and has played an important role in various areas of health ever since. During the First World War, hops were stuffed into pillows in field hospitals to help the sick sleep more soundly. Today, hops are a valued herb in dietary supplements as they help people fall asleep and maintain a restful sleep.

Sömntuta – A very appropriate name for this beautiful flower belonging to the poppy genus. However, it is not called sleepy poppy because of its soothing properties but because it ‘wakes up’ late in the day, i.e. it does not open its flower until the morning. Sömntuta, or poppy, contains substances that have been shown to facilitate falling asleep and maintaining a restful sleep.

Oats and Chamomile – Good Sleep contains oat and chamomile extracts in addition to lemon balm, hops and sleepyhead.
